Printer goes dry mode after 24hrs?

Post by TKCC71 »

Does anyone know how I should troubleshoot my rostock when it stops printing on a 40 hour print job. I have tried twice printing the part and it stops printing randomly when its between 49% to 90% complete.

Firstly, are you printing directly from a SD card?

Yes printing from the SD card. Been having this problem for a few weeks. Just keeps going to dry mode.

When this happens do your temperatures go DEF?

I dont think so, dont remember seeing DEF. I think it starts printing dry and temps shut down.

I think you are experiencing a thermistor fault. Check your cabling to make sure there aren't any loose connections.

Have you printed and installed a whip clip? http://repables.com/r/808/

Yes I have one on.

I started the long print again last night and its still going. When I saw the temps this morning, there were off quite a bit. Target was 240 and it was running at 229. I wiggled the whip cable and it went up to 233 and it wont go much past 234. I did a PID calibration 2X before I started this print and updated the EPROM. I am assuming its either at the whip or at the extruder. I checked for loose fittings and cant seem to find any that is visible to the eye. Not sure how I can solve this problem without re-wiring the whole whip and hotend?

Its really strange when I did the PID, the temps had no problem going to the set targets as I requested in the control panel. However as soon as I set my target temps in my FFF or begin to print it seems the temp always hovers roughly 6-9 degrees below the target print temp?
