Zeroing variations

Post by McSlappy »

Well I'm puzzled.
I noticed my bed was out of alignment so I went through a zeroing cycle.

For some reason every time I send the zeroing scripts I'm getting variation in the height. I can send script 1 3 times and get it pinching the paper perfectly, then hardly at all, then too tight. All within the space of a minute... Probably a total variation of .4mm at a guess.
I've adjusted the end-stops probably a dozen times and I'm getting pretty random results. I thought perhaps there was something too tight or too loose so I checked and adjusted the cheapskate bearings (they seemed ok).
I checked and tightened the endstop screws (they seemed a little loose perhaps).
I lubricated the universal joints.
I checked the belt tension. They all seem consistent, and no different to normal.
I discharged and recharged the warp core.
Still the same result.

What the dickens is going on here?
I loved my Rostock so much I now sell them in Oz :)

im having very similar issues.

I calibrate it to where i think its perfect then its all off again by a fraction

Its annoying me too

I slowed the homing speed way down to make the result more accurate.
Try this in your Configuration.h file:

Code: Select all

#define ENDSTOP_X_RETEST_REDUCTION_FACTOR 8
#define ENDSTOP_Y_RETEST_REDUCTION_FACTOR 8
#define ENDSTOP_Z_RETEST_REDUCTION_FACTOR 8

Hmmm. Well I hope we can find a solution, because it's been running beautifully for weeks and suddenly this!

Huh, that's interesting. Any thoughts on why it would suddenly strike right now?

Well looks like the u-joint on one arm had seized. Funny I think it was the same one from last time... Pulled it apart and cleaned it really well, re-lubed it and we're off!

I kept the endstop reduction factor at 8 since I like that slower speed, so thanks!
