I believe i had found my issue with some slight layer alignment issues that i have been dealing with lately. (I hope) Prints were coming out excellent from after calibration then in the past couple months the prints started to get artifacts such as layer alignment issues about 1/2 inches up. This eventually got worse so i decided to take apart and clean all the u joints and arms and the carriage tracks. It did not help and I was going through so much trouble shooting to figure it out.
today after class i came home ambitious and tore apart the cheapskates. Took the z off no problems and it actually glided great. Same thing with the y axis cheapskate. After i disconnected the belt on the x axis to check the glide, there was a light bump in its gliding. So i took that one apart all the way to. I took the bearings off and the last bearing i removed, the post came with it. This is the post that the bearing pushes on to the injected molded cheapskate, and not the bearing on the spring side. So evidently there was a crack or fracture on that post from the assembly screw, and was wobbling under the load of the movements. I barely had to pull on the bearing and it came right off.
And that makes sense as the slight layer shift was getting worse and worse. Eventually it would have gave out during a print. so now i am sol and need to buy a new cheapskate or ill just upgrade them to the trick laser arms and carriage.
Any one run into this. I see people have somewhat of a layer alignment issue, and maybe this might point them in the right direction as a place to look.

If you're going to spend money on an upgrade, you can get both the injection molded ball & socket arms as well as the new injection molded carriages for what you'd pay for the carbon fiber arms by themselves.

These are the parts that Gene was talking about and they are well worth the money.

http://seemecnc.com/collections/parts-a ... ta-arm-kit" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The latest manual tells you how to install these and you can get the new manual here: http://download.seemecnc.com/rostockmax" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... dition.pdf
Note that after these carriages and arms are installed you need to change your diagonal Rod Length in your Configuration.H

Tweaking the EEPROM IS a lot easier for newbies than Configuration.h tweaks.
