Coming soon from 713Maker.com
Just a sneak peak from MRRF of our next project for V2 and V3 printers.. After great sucess with another full metal printer kit and requests from customers, we will shortly start work on a full metal kit for both the V2 and V3 printers. We also now offer an effector to replace the stock HE280 stock effector and work with the stock layer fans and of course offer it in all our great anodize colors after many request from customers

Ditto.
Will they be plain alum. or will there be color options?

Re: Coming soon from 713Maker.com
These parts are too large to fit in our anodize system, but we are looking into outsourcing the anodize on them and only charging costs on that if we can find a good local shop for it. We should know more in a week or so on that front.Outsider wrote:Ditto.

Sounds great, any estimates on cost? I assume this will just replace the melamine pieces since the injected nylon is already ridged.... ?

Re: Coming soon from 713Maker.com
I will have an idea on costs in a few days I think. On the V3 kit these will only replace the 4 large melamine pieces as like you stated, the nylon parts are very stiff already. On the V2 kits it will be a 100% melamine replacement kit.Christian79 wrote:Sounds great, any estimates on cost? Re: Coming soon from 713Maker.com
Are there any pricing and availability updates? Also is there any chance that a smaller tool can be used at the corners so as to reduced the over rounding of the corners? I understand that a perfect 90 corner would not be reasonable, but something less "hole punched" would be nice. Either way it looks great and I can't wait to swap the pieces.
Re: Coming soon from 713Maker.com
If you need testing for a V3 kit, let me know.
Re: Coming soon from 713Maker.com
The dogbones in the corners are so small that you really won't notice them much.

Re: Coming soon from 713Maker.com
Sadly the radius of the endmill is of course far larger than the width of the CO2 laser used on the wooden parts. So there has to be some sort of "dogbone" in the corners to allow the parts to fit together. These currently use a 2.23mm dill which is done off center of the corner to further reduce the footprint of the hole. I can look at some small drills, but much smaller and the failure rate tends to start climbing for drilling holes that deep. But the dogbones could in theory be slightly reduced even further. Going to a smaller end mill is also not a good option as even with a 24K RPM spindle, the mill time on something like a 1/16th or so end mill would add at least an hour to more to each kit in milling time for the number of slots needed and the overall result would look almost the same with far more time needed to reach the same result.
So the first batch of stock came in the other day and we just got our newest CNC mill making some aluminum chips. So.. I should have more on pricing soon and this week the plan Is to try and mill a set out to take by the anodizer and see what sort of pricing the kits will need for an anodized finish. Plan is to simply direcrtly pass the anodize rice along on the kits not planning to make anything off that part since they are just down the way from us. We did a test run of our new finish that we feature on the V3 kits with our in house anodize and it is an amazing result! The finish has great depth to it and there is a great deal of "movement" to it as you walk by the parts. We are super excited and really looking forward to getting back the first run from the anodizer. Wish we could keep these in house for anodizing, but these parts are just too big for our current setup.

Re: Coming soon from 713Maker.com
Hey guys! Sorry I have been away so much. I have been busy getting the newest CNC mill up and running and doing more testing for the Rostock metal kits. I did look into reducing the dogbone size in the slot corners and I have reduced it down to about as small as it can go with a new process. I will have pictures to post in a few days of the old size and the newer far smaller size. This will greatly reduce the visual impact of the dogbones, but still allows the slots to fit with ease. I should be milling the first full V3 kit later this week and will swing it by the anodizer ASAP to get a price for anodized kits. I am starting work on the V2 kits in CAd and should have one ready for milling shortly. I do expect the V2 kits to take a few extra days in both CAd and milling as there is far more parts to layout, program and mill. I also need to look into laying out the parts to make the best use of the materials and work within the mill table size. But I just wanted to post a short update and let everyone know we are still moving forward to these and making improvements to our process along the way.

Re: Coming soon from 713Maker.com
Yes the plan is to replace 100% of the melamine on both printers. I have not had a chance to finish putting the V2 kit into CAD yet so I do not have a good idea of pricing yet. I should have that by the end of the week. Now that both larger mills are running, I have more free time in CAd as the larger mill jobs often have 4-7 hour run times which frees me to do other things. Have to love CNC mills!0110-m-p wrote:So this will replace all the melamine parts from a V2 machine...very interested in cost.

Hey Guys,Christian79 wrote:Is this still going to happen?
Yes this is still very much going to happen. I have been working on the enclosure system in CAD around all my other projects. I have also been working on reducing the size of the dog bones in the corners of the slots and the like. I plan to mill the first beta unit and send it over to Andy at SeemeCNC this next week (that is the plan at least). We have decide that we are going to pull in another CNC mill shortly which will be earmarked 100% for delta parts milling, from the mounts to the kit parts. We have seen an uptick in demand for all our parts and we do expect these and a few other delta items we have in the works to be very popular. So we are shopping a new CNC mill for this reason to devote to the delta parts. One of our other product lines is still keeping me super slammed on the mills, but the bright side of that is we are rapidly saving up for the new mill to devote to these parts fulltime. Our newest cnc mill is finally pretty much dialed in and start to take some of the production load on the larger projects. Just super slammed as a one man show and working hard to get that third mill in here ASAP.

That is great news, I look forward to seeing what you come up with. Also thank you for addressing the dog bone issue, it was the only thing I did not like. Finally I would love to see a add-on or even separate kit to allow for an enclosure. I print exclusively in ABS and would gladly pay for a professional looking enclosure!

Re: Coming soon from 713Maker.com
I am working in CAD to have an add on for the enclosure. Trying to see if I can make it an option that works with the kits and the enclosure parts are just an option, so maybe bolt on plates or the like that will then hold plex in place. The non enclosed version will release first, then the one that will allow for being enclosed. Once we have the enclosed option, I think that will be the main model offered. If no enclosure if wanted then just do not add the plates for it. a few extra holes would be all that would tell of the option, if I can get it designed as I desire. I have the dogbones down to about hole around 1mm instead of the older 2.25mm size. It is some very small tooling though and I am working to get the chamfer correct in such a small hole also. But I have been developing the method on the FT5 parts as a test bed with great success so far. Above you can see a test of the new smaller size and the big improvement ( I hope ).Christian79 wrote:That is great news, I look forward to seeing what you come up with. Re: Coming soon from 713Maker.com
Sorry I have been MIA of late. With the Detroit Maker Faire coming up andnthey full release of a major printer kit rolling out, I have been slammed. But progress has been made in the V3 kit and enclosure. Plan is to have them at our booth in Detroit. I can show a few snaps ofvthe beta frame kit so far. All the parts will be milled by lunch time tomorrow. Should have it all mounted in the following day or so. Enclosure is coming along and plex is being ordered in the next day or so. So for now here are a few snaps. The base top plate is the one from MRRF and is being refilled to match the pattern on the current edition. I process the surface of each batch of stock when it arrives to make sure it matches for each kit.

Last parts of the V3 kit came off the mills last night. Now the sad tasks of taking apart my V3 and rebuilding it. I never enjoy taking apart a working printer, even if it is for a sweet mod.

Re: Coming soon from 713Maker.com
OK here is a sneak peek at the first prototype for the V3 metal frame set. Tomorrow I will look at wiring everything back up and start test prints. Still need to also lay up the custom composite fabric side panels and vacuum resin infuse them in the next few days then mill them down to replace the plex. Still finishing up the enclosure in CAD and ordering the poly panels for that in a few days. They SHOULD arrive in time for the faire at the end of the month if I get them ordered in the next few days. Will update more shortly. Below are a few rough snaps with the cell to tide folks over until I can throw up the studio and get some good shots done. In early Aug. I will get started on the full 100% metal build on the V2. But really not looking forward to tearing down my V2 for that project, it is a rock solid printer and I am not looking forward to taking it apart since it works so darn well. Sure it will be just as good after, but never easy to tear down a great working printer.
