Delta Printer Thermal Containment Accessory

Post by bbrvvvvv »

If you have a Delta printer you are going to want to see this video!
The BerryBot3D Thermal Containment Accessory is use to minimize warpage when printing with ABS. This video talks about a simple way to make a thermal chamber for use on a Delta Printer. I perform a test on a real world functional part, with and without the use of thermal containment. This test shows a significant difference in dimensional accuracy when printing ABS using thermal containment. Please comment and give thumbs up if you like it!

since your machine is mostly aluminum, you could just enclose the whole thing in a heated chamber.

I've got an enclosure on my todo list - essentially it's just a length of the right diameter Sonotube with an acrylic half-arc door and a cutout for the LCD.

Hey Cambo, Yeah I was thinking I could just build another BerryBot3D for ABS but I am having so much fun with PLA I think it will be awhile before I mess with it.
Gene, would your go all the way up to the top of your machine?

Happy printing!

I'm curious if a similar positive effect could be achieved through the use of a reptile heater lamp and or combination of lamp with an enclosure. This would allow unobstructed view of the build surface and no potential weight added on the effector.

Perhaps even just a small amount of captured heat is all that would be required for good gains?

Nice work Werner. you are so clever.

I wonder if this clear storage cover I made would work to contain some heat.? Thought about it a few months ago, I have not had time to try it.

Yes, the Sonotube would be full eight and have a "lid" on the top of it.

What would be the ideal chamber temp for PLA and ABS?
