Ghetto Enclosure

Post by Qdeathstar »

I am waiting for my polycarbonate to arrive, but need to print a BIG abs print.. But without an enclosure t was warping BAAADDLY. (Always in the corner towards my door [go figure])

So I looked around, gathered what I could and turned my Romax into a hobo.

Usually by now I get curling, but it's perfectly flat right now... I also modeled a shroud to print around the main print (unlike simplify3D matter control doesn't have that ability built in) so one of these two things has solved my problem.

Only downside is that I gotta be around it all the time because cardboard is like matches

If it looks stupid and it works, it's not stupid. :)

Great example of thinking "inside the box". :D

Nice pragmatic problemsolving ;-)
I don't see any mounts yet for the polycarbonate sheets. How are you going to that?

Which set did you go for then? I'm also curious as to how well they'll work with your tool caddies.

I had meant to get the one that had been posted here with the hollow insides but I couldn't find it so I ended up printing this one. The caddies will be nixed. I'll probably glue some new ones to the sides of the cabinet.

though. with mine the pieces just slide so I won't have to worry about screwing around with screws.

^neeto. I bet with a little bit of finishing those sunshades could make a swell enclosure.

I'm gonna need a new accrylic corner... while putting together my unghetto enclosure, I was using one of the corners as a stress relief and it just couldnt take a it snapped on me for no reason. :-/
