As seeing is believing, would like to see a 360 degree for the Lithophane lamp.
What was it 3D Printed with how many color filament were used, what setting were used on the 3D slicer.

Cannot believe seeing more than 4 colors many shades of same in this simple Lithophane, including strands of hair on her head without light showing thru a photo on rear.

There's only one color of plastic. What you're seeing is why lithophanes are cool. I've made them out of Corian on a cnc router.

The "color" is controlled by how thick the area is - thicker for darker, thinner for lighter.

Hi Roberts_Clif,

This was made out a few prints. 1 for the lithophane (MakerGeeks Raptor PLA White), 1 for the frame (2 parts MakerGeeks Raptor PLA Black) and the hearts were printed separately (HIPS Red that's been lying around forever) and glued on. I'm still dialing it in before I take on (if I do) a 2 color printer upgrade. I am also uploading the STL files I designed for the frame - feel free to use. The Heart is on Thinginverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2782886

In addition, I bulked up the supports too much, so use care removing them, but the wiring channel came out great.

I understand you are trying to prove your Lithophane, though I can see the dust on the photo behind the frame.
This Object is a Picture Frame.

My Explanation
1. A 3D printed photo will basically appear in shades of gray (base color).
2. I can see Color difference in the face, white clothing and teeth in the Photo, Man's Face is flesh color wedding dress and shirt are bright white.
3. I can see dust particles thru the Picture Frame should not have posted such a high res image.
4. I can see individual strands of hair on their heads, this is too detailed for a 3D Printer Print

Buddy,

No trolling please, it's a lithophane printed the MakerGeeks White Raptor PLA, with a Phillips warm white LED bulb behind it. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Philips-40W ... 301259-_-N

I'm not breaking into my wife's work to prove my work to you - and she is happy which matters. I post a lithophane for my 25th Anniversary which took 4 total days to design and print posted not warranting any attack from such a small person as yourself. Shame on you. And you have proven that you ARE NOT WORTH my Time or anyone else's time. Henceforth thou shalt be known as "Detective Butt-Munch". Good luck finding friends of value Butt-Munch. <foe button pressed>

There's this thing called "Google", as a Technician / Programmer / IT guy, you may have heard of it? There's a ton of information on Lithopanes.

I posted a warning to him. Your lithophane has similar characteristics to the hundreds of other engraved & printed ones I've seen.

Frankly, I don't know what his major malfunction is, but it won't be tolerated here.

Thanks for the support guys. I reported this <person> to the admin.

Being proud of my gift for my wife, this was the first post I made on this forum showing what I designed and made. At this point, I am wondering if I should bother with this forum. I made my Max v3 from a DIY kit (2nd printer) and need help figuring issues out as this is my first Rostock printer, but if jokes like this <person> are the norm, I worry about our collective futures as well as my future on this forum...

Trust me, this kind of nonsense isn't tolerated and it's *extremely* rare. I've been an admin on this forum since ~2013 and this is the 2nd time I've had to bark at someone and the first time I've ever issued an official warning.

If he continues, please just report the post and don't reply to it. I'll handle it.

FYI, you should be proud of it. Lithphanes are hard to get right.

Trust us, most of people are quiet, and tend to be pretty helpful. It's a beautiful piece of work with a lot of heart in it, and even if it was just a picture frame, which it pretty obviously isn't, it would still be a pretty awesome effect. Most pictures like that I've seen would need a major light behind them to even slightly show through, much less glow like that.
I hope you had a wonderful anniversary, and I'd really enjoy hearing more about the design process (admittedly, I could probably look somewhere else for information like that, but I'm lazy, and you seem pretty darn good at it.)

Hi Xeno,

I made the lithophane from my photo using http://3dp.rocks/lithophane/ and selected the Curved option and large border(arbitrary) and made it 8mm thick. Make note of the "Positive/Negative" switch on the image settings page, I had it wrong the first time and had to go back and export another .stl - the darker areas of the photo should be thicker on the lithophane! It made the .stl file for me - a pretty cool site for the service they provide (gonna throw them some $ via patreon). I brought that into Cura and scaled it up and designed the frame around that. The Lithophane to 2 days to print as well as the frame taking the same amount of print time.

I was going to go elaborate with LED strips, mini-switch, fuse etc., but Amazon logistics lost my package on the last leg of shipping, so back to 'KISS', buying a candle lamp from AC Moore, busting it apart with hand tools, and adding a 40w (equivalent) LED to make the effect bright enough. The good thing is that even though it throws a lot of light, it's still 5w, which is under the 7w max for the fixture. The spacing of the bulb in the frame from the lithophane kept it cool so I don't start a melting/fire incident.

...And you guys don't have to explain for one bad <person> on the forum. I just want to forget this <person> and move on - it's the higher road to take.
Sincerely,

Dale Storer
