Trust me guys I am busting my butt trying to get these turned around. Only being home 2-3 days a week and out on the road as a professional sports photographer the rest of the time does make it tougher to get production out. It drives me nuts to be out of town when I could be home milling, but the bills have to get paid somehow! LOL

Oddly enough it is the milling that helps keep me from choking some of the guys who work under me. Being in charge of 80+ sports shooter across the country is a bit taxing at times as one might think. Coming home and milling it a great escape and the real reason I bought my 3d printer and CNC mill over the summer. I'm not so keen with being gone 5 days a week these last few weeks.. But it should slow down a bit here shortly.

If you lived in Houston then over the last 18 or so years you would have enjoyed my images daily in the Houston Chronicle in the sports section or unknowingly enjoyed some of my studio work was you looked over the many ads in the paper. I did a stint with the NFL and the Texans back in the days of David Carr QBing. I did 5 years of shooting the NBA all star game also. I used to travel all over Europe each year after the NFL season ended and enjoyed a few gallery shows of my work from there. Then I left the paper after 18 years and got recruited at my current company 5 years ago. We travel across the country each weekend covering sporting events and it is a massively enjoyable job if you like super hard sports photography and tons of traveling. I've been in charge of the shooters for 4 years, but next year I am going to just shoot and spend more time relaxing at home with my mill and printer for a change. With the move to Marshall Space Center coming up for Michelle's new job, I will have much more freedom to not travel every single weekend if I wish to mill more. Really looking forward to not having my hair on fire all week long with issues from all the guys who shoot for us!

thanks for the reply,

Good sports photography is an art in itself, seen a ton of lousy stuff and a ton of good stuff. so I have an anodizing question, if I sent you a couple of parts would you be able to anodize them in black? they should be off mill (sherline mill lathe combo, non CNC controlled) in a few and the local guys want a bunch of cash for even small part anodizing. I could even wait till after the move.

Do you know 100% what alloy they are? Do you maybe have a scrap you can send over for testing. If it does good then I am fine anodizing them for you. But would feel much better about it if i could test a scrap of the stock first if you have any.

Hey Tom,

7000 series can be less than ideal to anodize which would explain the higher costs for the local guys. If you have a scrap of it I would be glad to give that a go and see how it does. If it is the final pieces only then I'm not too sure how comfortable I would be working on someone else's milled 7075 as it can be less than ideal to work with.

We are working to get some stock built up and ready to be anodized. I will be sending a private link to an ordering page to everyone who has expressed a desire to buy a mount in the order their request was given. Once those are filled I will open the link to the public and we will be in full production on the new larger mill.

Well the big day is right around the corner. We have been crating up the CNC mills ( we have 3 now ) and getting ready for the big move. Time has gotten away from me though for mill time. Sorry for the delays guys but the March-July time frame is when i travel the most out of the year. We should be back up and running shortly. Have a supply of mounts cut and waiting to be anodized, just need to get some carbon fiber tubes cut and the anodize line set back up after the move on the 9th.

Me too!! Only plus is I now get a whole room for just the mills and can get them out of my office and bring the pronter into my office at last. Just ready to get moved and back into milling and printing. So sick of packing and traveling so much. Looking forward to a break shortly!!
