To get rid of regular infill, you have to increase the number of perimeters. I don't use Slic3r, but in KISSlicer you can check this with the layer slider or use this to check your g-code: http://gcode.ws/#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Also, copy and post your slicer settings from the g-code. That info will let the group see what fine tuning you need to get infill and perimeters to touch better. ;)

Thanks!

I will definitely experiment with other slicers. Won't be able to post the settings until I get home tonight.

Cheers

I figured it out. it is the extrusion width in the Slicer:Printer Settings:Advanced.

I was looking at that thinking there should be a separation setting, not realizing this one would do the trick.

Thanks!!!!

back to re calibration .7 noz printed test cube 20x20 looks beautiful Kiss setting included. BUT i have questions
1. what causes the lift in the corner where it starts the next layer and how do you stop that
2. why and what would cause the cube to be outa sq. 20.03 x 19.46mm
3. in Kiss where is the multiplier setting still trying to figure that out from begging thread in this post

Bubba I was following the thread calibration settings and I have z at 0 which lead to my ?
I printed again at 100% infill and while printing looked like it would be overfilled but came out better than I think I will take pics in am and post next print willbe 50% and see what I get. Still not sure of all the settings 90% dont make any sense as to what they mean or even effect . But willing to learn and never to old to try

i was thinking that the lifted corner cause was z-lift.. my thought as it finished a layer it lifts high, and causes that raised corner. but because you say its at 0 nothing that would do that comes to mind. a wipe would probably help but if your following the directions in the thread i wouldn't worry about it right now.

Probably because your towers are not exactly 120 degrees to each other.
At some point you have to call it good enough, most Cartesian printers end up undersized in both directions.

Yeah, somethings slightly off in the build. I had a similar issue for a long time. For me, it cleared up with the tower distance stuff in the new firmware, but don't let it drive you crazy. Unless you like that sorta thing.

Lord blinky can you elaborate a bit more on your post im running .88 rep on rambo whats best way of checking andfixing towers, if slots in base are laser cut and that is whats keeping them from being same dimensions from each other . Or does the new rep version allow for the correction of outa wackness of towers. Will the issuei am having cause issuewhe I make parts of assembly?

Re: Extruder Calibration

Post by lordbinky »

There's nothing horribly wrong with the .88 firmware unless it's giving you odd issues. Besides that x/y difference it worked well enough for me to get consistent .05 mm layers across 150mm of the bed on the first layer. I did it playing with 3D printed lithopanes, and just to see how far I could take it.

As for calibration, there's lots of threads on it that have useful tips. As the towers, I have a machinist square i got from mcmaster-carr i've linked on here before. You have to check left,right,center-side faces of the towers for straightness when you align them. The face palm mistake I made is that when I tightened the T-slot screws, I did one side completely then the other and didn't go slow and stagger the pattern. This pulled the towers to one side or the other, especially as the wood relaxed or the forces equalized, and made me feel like I had a gremlin messing with it when I looked away.

Now, with that said, I don't think that's your problem. At least that's not what cleared that x/y scaling difference up for me. There's the new Repetier firmware, SeeMeCNC put up a rostock version (use your current firmware to double check that things like pulley teeth are correct for your machine). It does have corrections for build differences in the software now, and you can change it from the eeprom :D . Before you change make sure you write down all your present settings as a physical backup as opposed to just exporting the settings.

Oh yeah, well the point I was trying to make is that there's a tower distance offset. If I measure from the tower to where the nozzle goes at (0,0,0), each tower was off. Once I went through and got them the same distance to the center point, the x/y difference cleared up for me. This firmware has been a trip down the rabbit-hole for me though since I'm still calibrating on the tower angles after getting my printer radius and towers-offsets right, I'm going the perfectionist route. As to why that difference is there? I don't know for sure. There's lots of little things that can add up though to make that difference, so I highly doubt it's the lasercut parts themselves. Although I do wish when I first built the rostock that I double checked all the parts with calipers and filed them to uniformity. Not even sure if I could that now if I got another one, still be too excited to just put it together

You can adjust the X/Y size by changing the delta arm length in the firmware, I increased it slightly I think. Z ought to be spot on because it's direct translation of the belt motion.

The detaching could just be not printing quite hot enough, ABS in particular will delaminate if you print it 5 or 10 degrees too cold.
Thanks to your instructions, My 20x x20 x .45mm cube is putting out a wall of.45 with a multiplier of.8676. The cube however, measures 19.6 x 19.6

In your answering Harley 573 on page 2 and page 3....

You touched on maybe adjusting the arm lengths in the firmware to possibly correct X and Y travel inaccuracy... can you expand on that, Please? Whwere in the firmware and has it proved to be effective/accurate?

Thanks,
Mark

BTW, I really wish these posts were numbered like other forums (like RCgroups)- It would make life a lot easier finding and referencing particular posts...

Re: Extruder Calibration

Post by Polygonhell »

As I said you can adjust the XY scale by adjusting the arm length in the firmware! but I would not suggest doing so, if it's incorrect it introduces a bowl shape in the motion, if you them tweak this our with delta radius, you end up with a saddle shaped motion, where Z is higher or lower between the towers at the outside edge of the bed.

Try printing something say 100x100 and see how far off that is size wise, if it's still off by abouth the the same amount, the. It isn't an issue with the arm length, however if the error scales with the part size then there probably is an error in the arm length.
