Footwear.

Post by Durandal »

Just curious since I recently bought my first pair of 8" boots after wearing 4" steel toe shop boots for a few years. What are you wearing on a day to day basis? You can vote for multiple types.

The new boots are Belleville 600's, the only good 8" I can find in a 11 4E, they're replacing a set of Red Wing slip resistant steel toe shop floor boots and various sneakers. The transition has been a bit rough, my socks are clearly not up to the task of a proper boot, and boot socks are so expensive, 1 pair for the price of 6 pairs of normal socks. So far no blisters, just hot spots, and nothing with the one pair of proper socks I bought, can't wait to get these broken in properly.

I've been wearing Timberland Titan Pro boots everyday at work for the past few years. They're comfortable right out of the box, they're light weight, and seem to breath well. Only thing is the sole seems to crack easily.

When I'm not at work, I like to wear a pair of Piloti's.

Work-I used to wear Sears steel toes.
Hiking/canoeing/fishing-EMS Dryhiker II GTX, goretex waterproof, a little heavy but the most comfortable boots I have ever owned. I am in the process of replacing them with NRS Storm boots. In fact I just ordered them this week. Can't wait to try them out!

Size 12ee 8" Carolina metatarsal steel toe w/ boot socks. Steel mills suck.

What's our next poll going to be? Boxers vs. briefs?

I could be wrong but I think the poll is pointed more times the times you wear shoes.

Alright.

When you find you need to tie, strap, or just wedge your feet into a tube of leather, rubber, and cloth with a pad of rubber or leather on the bottoms, what do you chose to do so with?

Where's the greater than 10" boot option?

I wear either Redback hiking boots or Taipan 11" boots.

I just started transitioning from combat boots ( i got out of the navy in '05) both pairs i wore until my feet were actually touching the floor when i walked. (this isn't recommended in a machine shop). Now im wearing some slip-ons i got from tractor supply, i hate them.

That's one heck of a cold turkey transition. I'm a programmer, so I get by with black sneakers. Just keep them clean and unscuffed, and no one notices they're not dress shoes.

Yea but i left my "HOLY" boots at home one day and these were the cheapest ones i could find and not be late to work. Unfortunatly, when i got home my wife saw the new boots and well "sent the old ones to a new home"

Matterhorn 10" field boots pretty much all the time I'm out unless I'm on a boat in which case it's cheap hybrid flipflop/sandles (kinda like the old reefs). Love those boots, on my 2nd pair now after the first ones died in a motorbike accident a year ago.

Refuse to own crocs.
