How/where to sell

Post by jdurand »

We've decided to sell our Rostock Max v2 due to the types of things we print. Where would be the best place to list it? I didn't see a "for sale" section here but may have missed it.

The forum does have a category for that called "Members Marketplace". You'll have to scrool down on the main index.

I don't do FB. Looked at it once, didn't see anything of interest.

I think 3D printers are too hard to sell. Maybe try to sell the Rambo and steppers on eBay and recycle the rest.

No, they're only hard to sell if you want a large chunk of your investment back. If he were to price the whole thing at the value of the rambo and steppers, someone would snap it up very quickly indeed.

Another option, especially with a completely working printer, is to donate it to a school science dept or other qualified nonprofit and take a tax deduction* at a fair market value. Which doesn't have to include shipping or the cost/bother of handling a sale. Plus, for an item like this, there's a lot of wiggle room in self-determining FMV.

*the value of that depends on your tax situation, of course.

Good idea Eric! Perhaps that is what I'll do. I've had my Max for Sale @$400 for months and nothing.

Joe, you might want to try your local version of Craigslist. You've got a very self-selected and limited number of eyeballs here. :)

Mine is sold. Easier than I had feared.

The new printer is running really well, just printed some polycarbonate with it.

With all the extra stuff I listed it was $500. Went to a theatrical scene shop to print out miniature scenic elements for building models of proposed sets.
