Was in the wild helping someone do a build and...

Post by JohnStack »

Came back to see the forum alive with the pro's helping the noobs as usual and the same problems happening over and over again.

I didn't know where to put this but I think there is enough information and photos to do a Rostock Print Trouble Shooting Logic Table.

As for the build, same problems as usual, forgot to put on a part in a couple of places, the usual build organizational challenges.

As for the kit:
I for one don't think the end stop wires should have the pink connectors put on them. It's easy to do and if you want to prewire the towers...
Ezstruder should ship as part of the kit (it might, not sure of that)
I would love it if SeeMeCNC shipped one of those cheap plastic boxes with dividers. It might help them pack up /count out parts.
Extra connectors and the PNs for them would help if someone screws up. If you do and you don't have the part, you're dead in the water.
Connectors for the hot end should be included
A fan and shroud should be included

It would be helpful if there was a good way to search the board, there is a ton of info here but it is way to hard to find.
Does anybody know how to search the board with Google? I read a post awhile back about Google being a better way to search board... but I can not find the post to know how to search (how ironic)

In a regular google search you put in site: to limit the search to that site.
Example: extruder steps per mm site:forum.seemecnc.com

Thank you Lord Binky!

You might also try: http://www.google.com/advanced_search so you can get more specific with date ranges, etc.

The challenge is this:

Noobs need to search the forum to get their build complete. This stuff is new - but I think the community always needs to figure out a way to push the latest structured info up to the top - so that they can build successfully out of the box.

With everything out there now, the information is quickly moving to "required docs" status.

As for myself, I find myself struggling with supporting users who need help and doing my own stuff - that's a 3rd world problem, right? LOL

Working on the search function. From day one it's been a pita to work right? I'm not sure, but I think it's a phpBB crappy plugin
