I was always let down when I found my giant Easter bunny was hollow.
Never do anything you don't want to have to explain to the paramedics.

Re: RotoMAAK rotational Casting
Is the RotoMAAK open source? I want to make one that's round instead of square so it'll look like the machine in Contact.

Re: RotoMAAK rotational Casting
Prior to getting my Rostock, I looked into casting basically because the accuracy of the finished product is sooo much better than printing. Of course, if you are casting a printed object, then what you print is what you cast. If that is what you want then you are good to go. CNC machining your mold and then casting can be an extremely precise way to make "fiddly bits" such as gears.Navkram wrote:Here is the rotational casting machine that I have built. I made this machine to fill a need I had in making multiple copies of salesman samples, took it to Detroit maker faire and go many people asking where I got it , I never really at that point intended to Mfg. these, but demand I have heard over the past 6 months I have went ahead and decided to sell these.
A few people from here has seen this in person and also commented on the design and a definite need that it can bridge between 1 off printing and making faster copies of it to mass producing with injection molds etc.
take a look and pass it on to everyone you know .

And as you've pointed out, the speed is much faster too.

Re: RotoMAAK rotational Casting
Man that alumilite resin he uses in that video sets up awfully fast, I have been casting for a while and would recommend using something else, especially for a beginner.
Re: RotoMAAK rotational Casting
Matthew Lesko is a bit over the top! Mark was great though!
