Print quality is just about perfect -- w00t!!

Post by michaellatif »

I think I have slic3r and Repetier firmware/host tuned in to almost perfect values.

Here is my latest print (kinda geeky )
Klingon Insignia (1)
Klingon Insignia (1)
Klingon Insignia (2)
Klingon Insignia (2)
Klingon Insignia (3)
Klingon Insignia (3)
Klingon Insignia (4)
Klingon Insignia (4)
I will create a post in the Sanguino area for settings/values.

It has to be a part of your own mini stargate.

Challenge accepted!

First picture is when the print was about 60% complete, second is of a quickly cleaned up print.
Not bad for first attempt with my default settings in slic3r.

Can anyone print this? I tried Slic3r but get manifold errors and only partial gcode. I tried to fix it in Netfab but no luck.

Cool... I will try that one after I test a new spacer designed for 608 bearings to 1/4 rod for my spool adapters.

Try this file:
TNGCommunicator3thick_fixed.stl
(34.36 KiB) Downloaded 279 times
I ran it through netFabb to correct any manifold issues and it now slices perfectly.

I guess I am going to have to download Netfab and keep that handy as I have a few things I want to print that have the same issue.

They have a nice cloud based service that I used if you don't want to bother with learning a new program.
Simply upload your file and then download the fixed one.
Nice and easy.

Hey guys, another thing we've noticed with some .stl files not slicing easily, check your drawings units! I keep replicatorG around and handy now, because it's an awesome way to open your stl file and see where it is in relative position, rotate it, scale it, then save it. We've found quite a mix of metric and imperial drawings on the web. If you try and slice a file drawn in inches, slic3r gives errors usually. When you use slic3r and set the scaling to 25.4, it slices!

I've noticed that too. If I have issues I open it up in ReplicatorG, convert Inch to mm, save it, slice it with Slic3r, and I'm good to go.
