Alan Z's evolving machine

Post by AlanZ »

My evolving machine. Some nice upgrades and tweaks.

I forgot to mention that the stepper motors have dampers, and that I might put a bar up to make sure the wiring sheath doesn't contact the ceramic heaters (though the Bowden tube positioning is currently preventing that from happening)

This is just an overview, I will be happy to discuss any of the details of the build and experience.

I hope some of you find this helpful. I could not have done it without the help from the folks in this group.

indeed very clever and well integrated upgrades. That magnetic build plate is totally new to me, do you have further details on the system?

Thanks, Very interesting: if those are high-power puck magnets then I wonder if you have to be sure you have no ferromagnetic material in your effector area. if thats not a problem then modifying a http://www.sandsmachine.com/a167x031.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; plate with your own magnets will be easy

One for my future mods file I think with several others from AlanZ's video.

They are not rare earth magnets, and the magnets tolerate the heat range of the bed. So far my tests are encouraging, but like every other tool, there is technique to getting it tuned in.

Could you let me know where you purchased the hinges you use to attach the lexan sheets together. Thanks!

Hi Alan.

Fine improvments !

Can you tell me the supplier of the heat parts, the heater for the heat chamber.

Thank you in advance.

Which charity are you benefiting Alan? And how are those working for you?
I got myself the http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B016BJ1ETO?psc=1 ones, which if there wasn't a sale, would be a bit cheaper, but sadly they only come in white. (and I haven't had a chance to test it yet) Are you getting any problems with softening of the chamber walls? Do you have any idea how long they're on for typically when initially heating the chamber?

I don't have any particular observations yet about the heaters, except that I have been using two to get up to temp quickly, and I can turn one off and maintain 110F. I am still experimenting.
