Interesting and an amazing price. They are about 15 miles from me so I emailed them to see if I can go visit and pick one up. I can't even buy the parts for that price.

well, the aluminum extrusions can't be too bad. Steppers are pretty reliable. Power supply looks reasonable. I bet the mechanical parts are fine. Even if you had to replace the electronics it would be cheaper than building a kossel from scratch, I know, I've built 3 and building another now. It's worth a look see.

Did they ever reply to your email? Reading the shipping info, it struck me that they would be using your payment to buy the stock to fill your order.

I contacted them once through ebay. It took a few days to get a response. Folgertech doesn't work on weekends. Sometimes you can chat with them via #folgertech on irc://irc.freenode.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

They told me that they have a backlog of orders from around Christmas. Folgertech definitely is not in the same league of customer service as SeeMeCNC. But, then again, the prices are very low.

It looks like they use a servo on the hotend, though I'm not sure what for...any ideas? Deploying a bed leveling probe?

I'd guess servo is for wiping nozzle. Just a guess though.

Yes, it's for a bed leveling probe.

Does the firmware then make its own adjustments automatically? How accurate are these types of setups?

I exchanged messages with Mr. Folger and I can make the 15 minute drive to pick one up in person. But they are backordered for a bit. This is basically a pre-packaged mini Kossel kit running the Marlin firmware. The deployable bed probe is off the shelf Marlin / Kossel. I haven't kept up with that development but 3 months ago it wasn't quite good enough. I need another printer to put an E3D hotend on so I might pick one up.

EDIT: watching the video, perhaps the marlin delta calibration software is ready! But, it is not a good idea to run this routine with a partially tape covered bed! The blue tape is ~0.08mm thick so you are introducing bad data measuring some points on tape and others direct to the bed. A much better practice IMHO is to calibrate direct to the plate then set your Z=0 to compensate for tape or other bed preparation thickness.

My FolgerTech Kossel 2020 came in on Feb 6, 2015. I started assembling it. If anyone else is doing the same thing, you can communicate via this thread or #folgertech on irc.freenode.net.

If anyone is considering getting a Kossel 2020, I recommend getting a Kossel Mini instead.

http://www.blomker.com/Kossel_Mini_Asse ... e_V1.0.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The price is about the same and about 1/3 of the pieces are better.

They seem to be out of stock on the Kossel Mini.

Yes, for blomker.com. But Kossel Mini is sold elsewhere as a kit like the Prusa i3.

I was finally able to get the Kossel 2020 working. It's fine with a stronger geared extruder (Steve's used).

The supplied direct drive is inadequate. I also added PEI from McMaster.

I built an LCD mount. The LCD Smart Controller was pulled from the RAMBo.
