[v1.35 28Nov13] - This is the first "official" public release of the user's guide.

As usual a great job!

A few items of feedback.

You show the printer arriving with the front panel off and you show then how to put it on. Later, after the panel is on you talk about the USB plug. You might want to mention the usb plug install before the cover is on to save people from having to take that door off later, which is a little bit of an aggravation.

On page 6 you state the power switch is sent in the off position. On page 7 (and all photos through page 10, page 15 and later show left) you show the switch to the right so I would assume at this point that off is right and on is left. Then on page 28 you state to turn on the machine you flip the switch to the right. You might want to make a note on page 6/7 that the off position should be pointing left when installing.

On my Orion, which is slightly different from production, came with accessory wires pre-wired in the wire bundle which made it really handy to install PLA fans. If you confirm that that this is true for production printers you might want to make note of that, and a picture where, somewhere in the manual. While not necessary to get the printer running for those who want to eventually mod this is really useful information to know.

Finally I run rep-host on a mac and the screens are totally different and led to quite a bit of confusion for me. I am sure I am not the only mac person with an Orion. Of course you have Windows so you can't show mac screens but would you consider adding an appendix for the mac rep-host screenshots if someone did the work for you?

I have looked at the PDF and searched through SeeMeCNC and no where can I find the size specs for the Orion.
I am interested in knowing what the total height is from table to the top plate, the approximate width and depth also.
I am considering purchasing one but I need those dimensions.

I re-organized it and combined a couple of sections. Should be more clear now.

The only orientation I'm concerned with is at first install - the switch bat should be pointing to the side with the wires on it. How the switch is installed is left up to the owner.

I would recommend you get in touch with the Repetier-Host developer and get him to update the MacOS version - it's VERY out of date in comparison with the Windows (and Linux?) versions.

When I go over the Repetier-Host settings, it clearly shows a printable radius of 75mm and a printable height of 230mm.

I agree that the guys need to get the website updated though.

Yeah, I saw the printable dimensions but I'm interested in the physical dimensions like how tall it is. I have a place in mind for it but I need to know if it will fit because there is a cabinet above where
I would put it. I agree that John doesn't need a donut.

It's 26" tall and with the spool holder attached takes up a 16" diameter circle. The machine itself is roughly 13" or a bit less.

Go get one. It's neat. Very well done.

You need to add basic maintenance like how to change a nozzle without damaging the print head, how to change the stepper, how to adjust the belts, etc. At least add these topics to the forums.

I agree that nozzle changes should be covered, but changing out stepper motors and belts isn't "basic" maintenance. It falls under the category of "catastrophic repair".

Well they should at least include instructions on anything they sell in terms of parts.

The installation of parts are well documented in the assembly manuals for the Rostock Max and the Orion.
Installation of belts are documented as well, which parts are you speaking of that are not documented?
The Orion is basically a smaller version of the Max and changing a stepper motor is the same procedure for
both printers. As far as adding the topics to the forums they are already added and are found by using the search function.

I think I'll do a video of the nozzle change-out. Less room for mis-intepretation when going from printed text...
