Replacement thermistor - must get the exact same model?

Post by Tropicalsq744 »

Hi guys,

My thermistor pulled out of the hot end (don't ask how, i was a little rough)

So i got these thermistors from a local electronics supplier http://www.sgbotic.com/index.php?dispat ... ct_id=1202" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Replacement thermistor datasheet
http://www.sgbotic.com/products/datashe ... 6403-1.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Stock thermistor datasheet
http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/362/gtthermistor-6057.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

will it do? it's a 100k thermistor but the size is slightly different and I don't know how to compare their spec sheets.

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

That part number is for a 10k part, not a 100k part. Stock unit is 100k. Might need to dig into Configuration.h file and see if there is a suitable profile available.

No, I don't think you can make that part work. For one thing, with a 10K part your measuring precision at the target temperatures will be pretty poor, even after you get the configuration right. But the real issue is the Vishay part is only rated to 125C, while the mouser part is rated for 300C. You need a part that can survive 250C temperature at the very least. And since you need to go shopping again, get the 100K version.
