Greetings, I have a Touch but can't get it to login to the MatterControl cloud with AT&T uverse.
I was able to connect using my Sprint phone as a hotspot but I'm not sure how reliable that connection is.
The Sprint hotspot wasn't able to complete and update download.
I'm guessing there is some port that needs to be opened in the AT&T access point, anyone solved this?
I'm working this also with MatterControl but thought I'd see if anyone here has been through it.
Thanks,
MatterControl Touch Sync firewall?
Re: MatterControl Touch Sync firewall?
I've found the problem but not a solution. The issue is that MatterControl uses port 443 when connected to the cloud.
AT&T doesn't allow that port to be used. The issue isn't just with MatterControl, you also can't connect externally to
things like security cams, file servers, etc. The solution AT&T suggests is to buy static IP addresses. I may eventually
try that but no more than I need that feature, I'll use my phone's hotspot.
I don''t intend to connect outside my home so that works for now.

Re: MatterControl Touch Sync firewall?
By "doesn't allow", do you mean outbound traffic on port 443 or inbound? If it's blocking /outbound/ traffic, you need to find a new ISP. Port 443 is used for secure http (which you use when connecting to your bank, etc.).
Go here: https://www.grc.com/ssl/ev.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - read the site, it's very informative.
If you're not using Internet Explorer (are you? Shame! ), the lock by the URL bar will be green. If it's not, AT&T is spoofing the certificate and intercepting your traffic.
If you can't get a new ISP, I'd recommend you sign up for a good, non-logging VPN service such as IPredator. Once you're on a VPN you should be able to make all the un-sniffed/spoofed/MITM'd outbound SSL connections that you want, including MatterControl.
