No Exporting to SD Card?

Post by FDM_Process »

Does matter control not support exporting directly to an SD card or am I missing something. If so, is that support coming soon? I've just switched from Repetier to Matter Control and I have to say the lack of exporting directly to the printer is a giant pain in the ass and seems like a huge step backwards to me.

No, it's not a huge step backwards.

Saving the gcode to an SD card is a LOT faster than "exporting" it via serial to the board via USB.

The feature in the firmware to download data over the serial link is more gimmick than useful feature anyway - the size of the gcode files can be tens or hundreds of megabytes in size and when you're limited to an effective data rate of about 32k per second (works out to about nearly 2 megs a minute).
