Bonding parts made with PLA together
What is recommended for bonding multiple parts together, permanently? PLA? ABS? NYLON?

Re: Bonding parts made with PLA together
When I glue 2 PLA parts together, I use superglue... works great... for abs parts I use acetone.. since it basically melts the parts together

Can PLA items with minor irregularities, non smooth surfaces be bonded with a Rosin or Epoxy based material? If so, recommendations?guanu wrote:When I glue 2 PLA parts together, I use superglue... works great... for abs parts I use acetone.. since it basically melts the parts together

I just heard a podcast that discussed multiple ways of glueing PLA parts together. The resounding success story was to use good ole Testors model glue.

Re: Bonding parts made with PLA together
I tried some Testors last night and I am sorry to report that it did NOT work.
However, I had good success with loctite-brand superglue, as well as their heavy-duty epoxy.
I didn't try and pull the epoxy joints apart but I did pull apart a superglue test join - the plastic delaminated, but the glue held tight.
Here's the epoxy I used - http://www.amazon.com/Loctite-1365736-F ... B0044F59N0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
