Equivalent to Lead?

Post by ZakRabbit »

My boss also owns a Karting Shop (2 Wild, shameless plug), and I was wondering if there is a filament with a mass similar to lead. I saw the tungsten filament and at $190/kg, it's a little steep. Anything less expensive?

Lead would be a tad bit difficult. It is one of the heaviest/densest things you can find for cheap.

However, lead melts very easily. So you could print your parts in pla and the cast them in lead even with a backyard setup.

I know the big problem is its toxicity, I just thought it would be cool to be able to print out balast weights in different shapes to get it right where you wanted it.

Print a box and fill with lead shot? And then seal it with acetone?

If it rattles fill it also with epoxy?

Make a mould and do the same process?

Just thinking how i would do it as i do not know of any lead filament
