Duel extruder problem

Post by maverick »

I have an Artemis 300 and have been printing for a few weeks fine. I can use duel extrusion if I point the second extruder to print the raft.

Now when I try to do it with a model I get the following error when it is time to switch to the second extruder.

"Warning: Tool 1 was not driven because its heater temperatures were not high enough or it has a heater fault"

The arms keep moving but no filament comes out. I sliced in Cura with Duel Extruder Profile and made the stand bye temperature 200.

Am I missing something ??

Where did you get the dual extruder profile?

I got it off the github. It is the batarang thing, and that printed fine, this error is when I try and do my own model.

When you load that profile sans batarang, does it show you the two extruder tabs on the right? (see example below)

Do you have temps set in both tabs and specific model sections assigned to the respective extruder tabs?

Yes, both of the temperature settings match for extruder 1 and 2, 200 degrees basically for all the temps.

I wonder if I should up the temp ?

I suspect you're missing a setting or something. I'd email Andy at [email protected] - he's the dual extrusion expert.

Turns out Cura does not know it is a 2 in 1 out extruder, so once it is done with one color/one extruder it tries to shut off the heat for that hot end. Since the Artemis doesn't have 2 hot ends it shuts off the only hot end.

There's tool change gcode that's missing. Check out the dual extrusion print of the bat on SeeMeCNC's git repo for Cura stuff. If you import that profile it'll correctly set up dual extrusion for you.
