Post by jmick »

Is their a written test for the extruder to insure its working. How do you turn on the extruder to test it. Is their a you tube video showing
how to check the extruder manually?

Are you having a specific problem that you can tell us about?

There are a number of posts about extruding. This is a decent and detailed one.

Also, Polygonhell's typical thorough instructions:

About retracting and sending filament through the extruder:

These were found via google search.

Or, did you mean the hot end?

Me, I wanna see the extruder take a written test. Was it given time to study before hand? :D

There are buttons in Repetier Host labeled Extrude and Retract. There are also commands in the firmware/LCD menus to extrude and retract. What do you want to test?

How do you turn the motor on for the first time and load the filament. I push the red lever and nothing happens? The motor does not activate when I push it and is not turning. Does this not work with power on, must you turn it on with the software to load your filament?

The red lever is just a spring loaded bearing that pushes the filament against the hobbed gear. It doesnt activate the motor. You have to get the motor turning in software or through the LCD controller in order to feed filament through the extruder motor.
