Example of a very long bridge...

Post by geneb »

The part is a safety cover for a handle that pulls the hinge pins from the cargo door of a light aircraft.

The narrow bridge is 1", the wide one is 3".

The only problem was at the leading edge of the wide opening - I had too much of a radius along that edge.

I didn't know you could do bridges that wide without support. I had to watch that one twice.

Thanks. I used the current release of Slic3r on it. The squirrel cage fan & special duct makes it happen - no air hits the hot end to cool it.

I'll try to post the preamble section from the gcode file this week. There's nothing special about it, honest!

That is great bridge that you did, i think that the secret is in the blower, it blow so much air that as the pla got out from the nozzle it's almost immediately get cold and hard, so the bridge get so nice

Yep. Guanu @ SeeMeCNC designed the duct. Works fantastic and it doesn't impact the hot end temperature AT ALL.

Will the platform include the fan shroud?
