October 2014 Contest ! ! !

Post by johnoly99 »

halloween940x420.png

So here we are guys, just over a month away from Halloween/Autumn/Harvest time, and we're going to have another contest! This time, we're not going to provide the model, you gotta find/design/draw/invent one yourself!

Here's the rules:

Post here in this forum with a link/attribution to the model used (must be freely downloadable and if licensed, be any truly open source license, so no "NC" licenses allowed )
Post pics (pics are how we'll judge, but not the only way)
BONUS points for most useful decoration/prop/costume/gadget!

Now, what's it worth to ya?

1st place: $100 gift card to the store, stock up on all that filament you need for christmas presents!
2nd place: $50 gift card to the store
3rd place: $25 gift card

Deadline for entries is October 31st. We'll pick the winners then so make sure you have yours posted by then!

Enjoy guys, and lets see what you come up with!

From Thingiverse.com http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:167043

This one is 60% of size, I was able to fit 2 of them at a time on the Orion. The 100% size came out really nice with one piece at a time, so there aren;t any strings between the parts.

And what is a "NC" License anyways? Also, when is the deadline for entries?

Ahh, good point! Link to the file shows an NC (non-commercial) then it's no good! Best bet is to design/remix your own and upload it to repables.com with the proper license

Just posted, the deadline is Oct. 31st sometime in the AM (that's when we'll pick the winners)

And looks like a little research and the pumpkin robotech posted is not an NC license, so you're in!

Ok, my own creation. Just finished it today. Uploaded to http://repables.com/r/400" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; so I hope I picked the right license Let me know if it's wrong and I'll change it. Didn't even know there was a contest until Jimustanguitar mentioned it so I figured I'd enter.

Checkers anyone?

I'm confused about the license. I wanted to use a model from GrabCad . how will I know about the license?

Thanks

Anyone interested in making their own model. I recommend Meshmixer or FlatFab.

My entry is a black widow spider. This spider was printed on my ORION in ABS. The body/head was printed with supports. The legs were printed on a 2 layer raft with supports and the raft was left on to simulate hairy legs.

The final spider is quite large. It made me jump more than once when I forgot it was there!

This spider is an original design. I did reference photos from Thinkstock (I have a license) when designing it. The files have been placed on Thingiverse http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:496999.

So I win, right?
