So I thought I'd post a topic about looking to standardize the non-included hardware. I know that a lot of people are using various different electronics to drive their H-1, but for the most part I think we're all using pretty much the same hardware (mods excluded). While the "full" kit is great, it isn't really full. It doesn't included connectors (which truly aren't needed because you can just solder wires together), it doesn't include the ferrules needed for the hot-end, it doesn't include the wires or cables needed to really connect everything.
The community has been great at finding out what works and what doesn't, but I wonder if there should be an effort to standardize these components as well. Some of the other 3D printers sold as kits are truly COMPLETE in that they include every wire, every piece of tape, every everything! I'm not saying that would have to happen (though it may not be a bad idea for John and Co.). But even if it isn't part of the kit, it would be nice to have a nice set of standardized "extra stuff" that needs to be bought once you get a kit.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Standardization of Non-included hardware
Re: Standardization of Non-included hardware
Well, I'm doing exactly that - or at least a recommendation - with the manuals I'm writing. The electronics manual will have more recommendations since no wire, connectors, etc is included with the kit. But this would be a great topic for input into that. Also for input into the operations manual.
