Prints over 10% over scale??

Post by Potatohead908 »

I am just starting printing with my Max V2. The first print was for the PEEK fan as per the instructions. The print is over-sized by about 18%. The fan pocket measures 29.4mm by 29mm tall. What are some of the things I may have done wrong?

My thinking is that it is the steps per mm in the settings? Or that there is a scale factor but I can't find that.

Ok I used a block to see what the MAX thinks it moved compared to what it actually move. It is the steps per MM. So I looked into the configurator and found that I adjusted the wrong setting for the extruder feed rate. No I have to find the correct number for the steps!

Now for the next question. Should I need to re-calibrate the axis to re-acquire the Horizontal radius number?

Yes, you should recalibrate everything to be sure. Banging the end effector around repetitively is not really good for it.

I had also had the problem where the parts were %10 too large, i restarted by flashing the firmware and continuing from that point on in the manual and it solved the problem. I have no idea what the cause was.

Have a look at this thread for calibration, it has helped my calibration immensely. Also at tome point, my printer lost the values in the EEPROM, and thanks to the excell file, I was able to restore them with ease.

Ok I've recalibrated it now. I was able to print the fan mounts without doing the recalibration though. Just an FYI.

Thank you.
