How to I swap out my 0.5 nozzle for my 0.35?

Post by Agisis »

I bought a 0.35 nozzle, but i'm not entire sure the best way to remove the 0.5 and put the 0.35 on. Is there a video or instructions somewhere? I don't want to mess up my hotend!

Get a pair of slip-joint pliers, a wrench that will fit the hot end and a thick washcloth.

Bring the hot end up to 230C and TURN THE MACHINE OFF. Gently grip the heater block with your pliers, taking care not to grab the thermistor, its wires, or the resistor wires.
Unscrew the nozzle a few turns and then using the washcloth, unscrew the hot end the rest of the way out with your fingers.

Install the .35 while the heater block is still hot - thread it in as far as you can with your fingers (it'll start picking up heat quick!) and then use the pliers to hold the heater block (as before) to snug down the hot end with the wrench.

Thanks man. I cannot remember if it is clockwise our counter clockwise to unscrew. Sometimes they are reversed for special situations and i dont want to put too much torque on it finding out. Do you know offhand? Perhaps i am being overly cautions, but decades of coding have taught me to assume nothing!!!
