I am going to cross post this question here and in my build thread, as I am at this point in the build where it makes a difference in how I continue:
The Prometheus Hot End instructions state to hard wire the cooling fan to a constant 12v connection. It specifically talks about NOT wiring it to the control board's layer fan (which makes sense). Yet, since the Prometheus is a "generic" hot end that doesn't take into consideration the design of the Rostock Max V2 and electronics - should I wire the Prometheus Hot End fan to the PEEK control board OR to a constant 12v hot plug?

Prometheus fan wiring
Re: Prometheus fan wiring
It is really comes down to personal preference . If it is wired to the peek then the fan will stay off until the hotend is activated (and reaches 50c). Wiring it to 12v meanes it will be on whenever the machine is turned on so you will always hear the fan when the machine is idle. Personally I don't want to hear the little whine all the time so mine is wired to the peek.

Re: Prometheus fan wiring
Thank you! I figured the PEEK fan was controlled through an algorithm in conjunction with the total amount of heat being applied to the Hot End; I didn't know if the design change for a Prometheus hot end would require a configuration setting difference or be insufficient, etc. I was just looking for another person who had one to confirm they wired it through the PEEK as well. Thank you - I am good now.Holy1 wrote:It is really comes down to personal preference . If it is wired to the peek then the fan will stay off until the hotend is activated (and reaches 50c).
