Extruder motor high frequency noise

Hey,

I finished my assembly a few days ago and so far everything's working pretty good.
Just one grain of salt - the extruder stepper motor is killing me.
Every time I extrude something it emits a high frequency noise that is really painful to listen to.
It stops the second I press the "Release" button in Matter Control.
Does anyone have any clue on why this is or how to shut it off

Is it the motor or the driver on the Rambo board.
I vaguely remember nophead pointing out that the way the drivers are usually wired results in possibly audible harmonics.

Im 95% sure it's the motor itself.

My motors make a little bit of noise like that, too. Reminds me of the electronics charging sound that camera flashes make. I've never had any trouble with it, and just assumed it was normal.

In my case it's more than a little noise unfortunately...
On the other hand the little speakers on the RAMBO board stay quiet no matter what i do.
Any ideas on that?

I had the same problem when I bought another ezstruder - this one came with a Kysan motor and at the recommended current it was horrible to listen to! I dropped it a little bit and it got better. 140 is where it is at.

Not aware of any speakers on RAMBo. Beeps come from the LCD display panel.

As you age the frequency range you can hear changes. At 18 you have already lost a chunk of the high frequency part.

Maybe we all have the noise but do not hear it.

You're absolutely right that our high frequency perception attenuates as we age. I used to work at a hifi shop, and my uncle who owned the place would go see an audiologist every year to test how his audible range had changed. I remember his results being very interesting. I'll have to do that someday too, even though I'm not that same caliber of an audio nut.

If you use the same earphones and same app you can log your "progress".
