EEProm Keeps Resetting

Post by Nath5 »

I am having a recurring problem with my rostock max v2 eeprom resetting. It will work fine for a few prints and then all of a sudden I will end up with a birds nest because the eepromr has reset and my z height is now 100mm off the bed. Does anyone know what could cause this?

Thanks,
Nathan

Howdy Nathan! Are you sure that it is not the power supply dropping out?
You don't mention what firmware you are using but you may have to clear out the eeprom and reinstall the latest firmware found on the Seemecnc Github page.

I am running the latest firmware from github. Could you explain more what you mean by the power supply dropping out.

Some power supplies randomly stop producing output voltage and it is possible that you are experiencing this. One of the most failure prone part
is the power supply. You would have to be there when the printer started acting up and if it is the power supply the display will go blank and any leds
will turn off. Just a possibility.

Would the eeprom loose its values if the power supply temporarily died? I thought eeprom was non volatile. The problem never presents itself while printing, only after x number of prints the next time I turn it on the eeprom is cleared.

In that case, you may want to clear out the eeprom and reinstall the firmware. See this link: http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=9080 or this http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=77&t=7802

That second post sounds exactly like what I have. Must be some combination of canceling prints / power cycling the machine that is doing it. I recently reflashed the firmware and re-calibrated everything so I don't think it is a firmware problem.

Thanks for the quick replies.
