Filament sticking to nozzle.

Hi community,

I was wondering if you could help me with an issue I've been having with my v2.

The main issue I'm having is that the filament is sticking to the nozzle rather than the heat-bed. I am using ABS.

I set up the printer with vanilla settings outlined in the manual first time round (first calibration method), and got a good print for the fan shroud, until it failed a couple of layers from the top, so at least I know the machine is capable of it!
By what was left of the filament mess I assume at some point the ABS didn't stick to the layer below and at that point the filament just built up on the nozzle. The nozzle temp is currently set to 230°C.

Since then, I have been unable to print without build-up on the nozzle. To fix this, I have;
> Changed the temperatures of the bed up to 80°C,
> Replaced the glue stick with kapton tape as suggested by someone else on the forum,
> Recalibrated using method 2,
> Further lowered the Z height manually bit by bit, with no effect on the printing.

I am not sure what the next step in fixing this is, I don't wish to do something I'll end up regretting.

Are you using gluestick on the glass? What's the ABS sticking to?

It was glue stick on the glass, but since replaced with kapton tape.

does anything stick to the bed? can you see the filament squished out of the nozzle onto the glass then it lifts off? also your bed should be 95C especially if you do not have an enclosure. I run 95C with an enclosure and no problems with abs sticking. 90- and below large prints curl even with a brim. also hopefully you are printing inside a heated room, if you are in your garage it will need to be warmed up somehow. I had a bunch of trouble way back when when I was in an unheated shop.

Sorry for the slight delay, I've been trying to put what I see into words.

When you extrude out ~20mm, and remove the dried strand from the nozzle before printing, the nozzle will still keep extruding, this then dries when it reaches the bottom. The filament gets dragged along with the nozzle immediately, the nozzle still extrudes more ABS out, with a strand of dried following. It does at some point start to stick, but then the nozzle takes a sharp corner and takes the entire layer for the ride.

The printer is running in a enclosed room at ~24°C idle tempertures.

I assume you have run the calibration including the horizontal radius adjustment? if not do it exactly like Gene says. sounds like your bed is not true to the nozzle path. the latest version of mattercontrol has built in leveling for delta machines now. your problem sounds like a horizontal radius problem. there
