Printing an awesome glow in the dark labyrinth gift box at twice the height, something you could only do an a RSMax! However, when I get to the final 25% of the print, the layers start to fail and break easily.
I've decided that the extra bend in the bowden tube at higher heights is causing extra friction, enough to slow down the extrusion.
Do you think I'm right, and if so, what does one do about this?
Thanks!

Re: filament not extruding well at higher layers
I would try to reroute the bowden so that the extra bend at higher heights is minimal.
Sometime the Bowden can be shortened a little, the object being not to have sharp bends irregardless of hot end position.

Re: filament not extruding well at higher layers
Thanks for your input eagle, this issue still crops up often enough. Sometimes it seems like the extruder isn't able to exert enough force onto the filament to push it through. I did try adding a little oil to the tube to loosen things up as I have seen recommended. I sometimes feel like it could be an inconsistency in the filament diameter as well. I could easily say the extruder is getting "clogged" but I never have to clean it or unclog it. I back the filament out and I'm good to go again.

Have you checked the cooling fan on the RamBo?

Holy1, I can hear it running right now. If it failed, would that cause extrusion issues?

Other possibilities are the filament itself is to inconsistent in width, does this problem occur with all filaments?ramai wrote:Thanks for your input eagle, this issue still crops up often enough. You can try editing your firmware to increase the current going to your extruder motor, examples of this are explained on many threads such as these.

To edit the firmware you need to open configuration.H and find the current settings. The format for the numbers is the X axis, Y Axis, Z axis, 1st Extruder, 2nd Extruder.
You would change the value for the 1st Extruder (increase the number to increase current) Save the configuration.H and send the firmware back to the Rambo.
Good Luck. You can chat with a technician at Seemecnc by going to their site and click on the chat button that should be on the 1st page.
Re: filament not extruding well at higher layers
I was just running a test print, and it failed. It's grinding the filament, so there must just be too much friction in the line. I'm thinking about trying out the fly'n'strude mod, hoping it will fix this issue.

If the fan isn't blowing on the back side of the Rambo, the stepper driver can overheat after a while and cause your extruder stepper to act all wacky. It's fooled more than a few people.ramai wrote:Holy1, I can hear it running right now. If it failed, would that cause extrusion issues?
