First look at the new EZR Struder!
I was lucky enough to get my paws on one of the brand new EZR Struders, and I thought you guys would want to have a sneak peek at it, too!

If I missed any angles that you want to get a better look at, just let me know and I'll post some pictures.

Re: First look at the new EZR Struder!
Anybody know why I can't embed it correctly? It seems pickier than usual this time.

Hey guys, here is the assembly guide for the EZR Struder. This will give you and idea of the assembly process and how simple it is. http://seemecnc.dozuki.com/Guide/EZR+Struder/42

It's there now. We had an edit to make, and it took 3 hours to upload and process again.

Still not sure what's going on with the embedded player. It's working on other boards and on Facebook just fine...

Re: First look at the new EZR Struder!
That looks promising. I messed around with some semi flexible filament a while ago, and I had to make a custom bit of PTFE tube that went right to the edge of the hobbled gear, because the stock EZStruder was forcing it every which way but down the Bowden.
Re: First look at the new EZR Struder!
Great!!! But - will it accommodate the same width of drive gear as the old EZStruder? I'm using one from TriDPrinting (12.5mm OD) that goes with their geared stepper's 8mm shaft. You really need a geared stepper for hot ends like the Cyclops. I'd love it if I could swap this in and get that fully supported filament path!
Questions? Ask in a thread - PMs are off.

The PTC fitting is by John Guest. It is called a "half cartridge" fitting. John Guest is a great company and has been around for a very long time.
As for the hobbed drive gear, yes, exactly the same. John Oly will post these for sale this week! Look for them on our website.
Thanks to the Maker Hive for just doing a review video, nice !!

Re: First look at the new EZR Struder!
I'll probably be hooking that bad boy up over the weekend. Any specifics that you want me to take a closer look at?
I brought the new extruder to The Hive last night, and everybody that inspected it closely was pleased with it and eager to hear about how it works.

Looks nice! I particularly like the completely constrained filament path and linear spring mechanism!

Me too. We'll see if I can print flexibles like the guys were able to do the other day.

Re: First look at the new EZR Struder!
I just ordered two of them. One for my Eris, hopefully will make loading much easier, and avoid some feed problems I have been having. If that works out well, the other will go on my Max 2 which has a longer than stock Bowden tube because I mounted the extruder outside of my enclosure. Looks like a nice upgrade, and hope it comes stock on new units.
Re: First look at the new EZR Struder!
Is the stock configuration of the Bowden tube on the Eris long enough to fully seat into the new EZStruder, or do I need a longer tube?

Re: First look at the new EZR Struder!
After replacing the tube in mine, I would say yes if you feed the tube through the wire sleeve.

Re: First look at the new EZR Struder!
Mac, I don't quite understand your answer. Does the existing Eris tube need to be rerouted and exit the sleeve in a different place to add some slack?
