Best and least hazardous solvent for de-gunking PETG from a nozzle?

Post by 626Pilot »

Tried burning the hell out of it, which works wonderfully for PLA, but PETG just turns into a black gunk that sticks to the nozzle's threads and elsewhere. I've heard that acetone doesn't work, but the person who said that was talking about vapor smoothing. According to this, acetone should work alright. Another option that chemists seem to think will work is dichloromethane, which is nastier than acetone, but I'll get it if I have to. I have some D-Limonene I can try. I'm also ordering an Erlenmeyer flask with a glass stopper, and I'll be doing all the handling outside.

Any advice?
