Pushing Filament out the side of the Extruder.

I’ve been struggling the last few days with this issue. I’ll start a print and it goes ok for a little bit (< 10 min) and it’ll start pushing filament (both PLA and ABS) out the side of the extruder.

I’ve also noticed that the Bowden tube flexes and torques like crazy when its extruding. It got so bad that it ended up pushing the Bowden tube out of the PTC fitting, breaking the fitting. I’ve also checked the temp of the nozzle with a thermocouple to verify it wasn’t too cold, it’s not, it’s within 7% of the displayed temp.

I pulled the tube off and tried to manually feed filament through the nozzle by hand, and it goes through ok, it isn’t going through like a hot knife through butter, but I don’t have to jam it through.

Anyone have any ideas?

A picture is the best next step here.

I had this issue when trying to print quickly with ABS (it's worse with Nylon), there is too much space between the roller on the extruder and the entry to the bowden tube.
You can try slowing the print down, printing slightly hotter, reducing the speed of your retract, all will help to some extent.
Mines always been fine with PLA because it's so much stiffer.
I printed a part to minimize the space, the model is on the forum somewhere.

This is my number one frustration with my machine poly!

Sorry to original poster I was thinking hotend not etruder so getting a pic may be very difficult.

Is this part just a spacer of sorts poly?

I searched but could not find, the search is kinda weak though.

***update. Found it.

You called it an extruder cap, here is a link to your thread.

I'll try it right away. Thanks once again poly.

that extruder cap solved it for me. I might add that if the screws on the extruder are grabbing the filament too tight, the filament can get so squashed that it won't slide through the tube easily.

I'll give the extruder cap a try too. Though I may try printing it in Taulman 618. Looks good, though. Thanks for sharing!
