J-Head Groove Mount From Trick Laser keeps head too high

I just got my J-Head from hotends.com and mounted it into the J-Head Groove Mount from Trick Laser, which I assume is version 1 since what I have is different then what is on the website. I ordered the mount last week and got it Tuesday I believe, and got the hot end today. The problem is after installing it onto my Rostock Max, the head wont touch the bed!

I'm pretty sure I have it installed the "right" way, the little slide tabs fit into the grove.

I'm kinda stuck. I'm thinking of removing the spacers on the long screws and using a second bolt. I just have to work really hard on getting it level, and I don't know if I will have enough room still as the fan may get in the way.

I can push the J-Head down further, but then I can't lock it in since the grove is hidden then.

you may have to shorten your standoffs, but then your fan may not fit.. hmmm

I would hope that is not a Chinese head, I ordered from hotends.com.

Silly question, can't the clip for the j-head go under the bracket?

I'm not sure what you mean by "under the bracket". The way it is mounted is what was intended but it's possible
you have a good idea, I just don't understand what you mean. The standoffs need to be shorter but then the fan
is going to be in the way. It may be possible not to use any standoffs but you are going to lose some Z height but
the Max has plenty to spare.

Foshon, I don't know if that would work or not but the same condition would exist. The j-mount groove would be lowered and again the fan
would hit the effector. The only way I see is too use no standoffs and place as much as possible of the j-head underneath the effector and
give up some of the Z height.

I think Foshon called it. The photos on http://www.tricklaser.com/ show the groove clamp sitting below the bigger triangular piece.

(Caveat: I do not have the hardware. I am just a kibbitzer.)

A couple of points:
The pictures posted by chosenken makes the Hot-End look like it has 4 cooling slots, if that is the case it may be a Chinese knockoff, the standard requires 5 slots.
The four slot hot-ends are shorter than the standard. He is using version one of the j-head mount, the same mount I show in my writeup at http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=2042
If you were to do as Foshon suggests then there would be an open air gap the filament would have to pass through and I don't believe anyone would design a mount
that has a bowden top, a free air gap then the groove holder.
Version two of the mount that Trick Laser is now selling is designed to hold the shorter knockoff hot-end because of the very problem chosenken is seeing.
If the hot-end that chosenken has does indeed have only 4 slots I would be contacting hotends.com and find out why only 4 slots.
If I decided to keep the hot-end, I would contact Trick Laser and see if they would swap the version 1 holder for the version 2.
I have just read what is posted at hot-ends.com which is:

With ONE exception, this hotend is identical to the J-Head Mk V-B. Due to the standard thermistor being discontinued, the thermistor hole is drilled to fit the Semitec 104GT-2 (thermistor 5 in most firmware tables). In addition, this hotend ships with the Semitec thermistor.
Note that the current image displays the J-Head Mk V-B. The only difference is the hole size and location of the thermistor hole. (From Eaglezsoar: Note the 5 slots)
This hotend is a combination of ideas from other nozzle designs combined with a goal to reduce the number of custom machined parts to a bare minimum. The J-Head Mk IV-B has been proven to print reliably with both ABS and PLA. (PLA will require a small fan to provide air-flow through the cooling vents milled in the sides of the nozzle holder.)
The following is a list of just some of the improvements made to the J-Head Mk V-BV:
Over 13mm shorter than the Mk IV-B and earlier J-Head hotends. This will increase the height of your print area.

From Eaglezsoar: Now look at this - http://jheadnozzle.blogspot.com/ Here it talks about the MK V-BV. It shows 5 slots and nowhere does it mention that it is 13mm shorter.
Sort all of this out and you should be awarded a prize. I am not taking sides with any Company nor am I suggesting that a Company is doing something wrong, I just feel that this whole subject needs further investigation.

Here is the J-Head I received and opened today from Hotends.com. It does have 5 cooling slots, but only 4 are drilled through.

It does look like the standard MK V. I don't know why the web site says it is 13mm shorter than the Mark V.

The J-head I just received weighs 10.4 grams (.37 oz) with the included resistor and thermistor

Thought I should post a reply since I did get a solution.

I ended up using 3 bolts for each tower. One on the bottom to keep it stable, then one in the middle to be the base for the mount and finally one to hold the mount in place. Doing this I was able to get the fan down and touching the cradle with the head sticking just far enough down. Still a tight fit, only about 3mm + between the cradle and bed.
