Static issue with my 4 month old Orion

Have been running my Orion non-stop for 3 months now, and in general, am quite happy.

I've had some weird issues which have happened since the beginning, but only today figured out part of the cause.

Sometimes when I touch the Orion, the screen blacks out. This has happened several times--probably 2-3x/week..

Today I realized by accident it is static..

I walked up to the unit, and reached for the knob.. ZAP. and the screen went right black.. had to shut down and reboot...

Is this thing actually grounded to prevent static? has me worried the board is gonna fry!!

it should all be grounded to the power supply, do you have the 3 prong in a proper receptacle?

yes, absolutely. it's fully grounded. I have a business which specializes in PCB & chipset repair - we're nuts about static control & grounding.

this seems to me as if it could be a situation where the display board & power switch area isn't properly grounded, so if somebody touches it, it can induce a spike across the control board.
