Apostoly's Delayed Build Log

Hi Guys,

I've been working on my printer whenever i got a chance after work hence why it has taken so long. I made a mistake when soldering the smart LCD connector (I didn't pay close enough attention i guess) and soldered the two 10 prong connectors in the wrong orientation. Part has been ordered from ultimachine already assembled so i can just plug and play when it arrives. I also need to find another spade lug connector as i damaged one of them when trying to remove it from the button
:(

Anyhow, here are all the pics taken from the build process as im sure everyone has seen 1000 times before, thought id follow the trend :D

Some really nice closeups and general pics, some of the best I have seen.
Thanks for posting them and congrats on such a great build.

Would anyone know why one of my steppers (Z) makes a lot more noise than the other two.

I have the astrosyns dampeners installed and you can clearly tell on the X and Y axis but when it comes to the Z its still high pitched?

I wiggled the stepper to see if it was loose on the dampener but seems to be good.

Paul.

Is it possible the Z damper was installed differently than the other two?
I don't even know if it is possible to install them differently but it is one of the few things that make sense.

How about amount of belt tension? Just a guess.

They are all practically the same on both ends so like you said it doesn't matter how you install them. Well that's what i think anyway..

Ill see how much it annoys me when i actually fire it up. Its probably not tightened on there as well as the other two. I tried pushing it against the frame and it seemed to reduce the noise a little. Ill try to tighten them as best as possible while still assembled.

I tightened all the belts not too long ago, that's not the issue im pretty sure.

Got the printer calibrated as best as possible without the LCD..

Pretty happy with the prints to start of with.

Both shrouds were near perfect.

Here are just a couple of snaps of the first prints

Thanks to Joe (joecnc2006) and Mcslappy for helping with the design of the Cam. They work perfectly and will take photos of them installed and a video of it working.

Right on! Congrats on the build!

I'm not sure of the construction of the V2, but could that Z-axis stepper be touching the frame anywhere? I would think that if the body of the stepper is still touching, you'd get the whine through the whole machine.

Nice log...

Cool to see the cam printed! And is that a headphone mount? Very cool!

Looks like the whole thing went together pretty well! Congrats on a kickass machine, and I'm further happy that I got black too ;)

Thanks Eagle

I find myself using cura the most at the moment, but i do switch between kiss and cura depending on filament type and what im printing.

Took a while to get the hang of how one slicer prints but now i seem to be getting it more and more every print.

These look cool! Every since seeing your headphone mount I've been meaning to print one, looks great!

The giraffe is pretty amazing.
