Wiring Rambo Rostock - latest

Good evening folks... so I am wiring up the rostock.. the build is done, now im wiring.
So ive wired up the red/black from the hot end (to heat 0 on the rambo)
Wired up the red/black to the Heat to bed on the rambo.
Then it says
The Fan 0 connector is used to control the Layer Fan. When wiring the hot end, the Layer fan
is the 26ga pair of wires that does not have the knot in it. Bring the wire pair foreward as with the hot
end power wires and trim them so there is 6” of wire out past the front of the machine.
So with that said, i traced the black/red 26ga wires down tower Y and out along with the extruder motor 4 wires. I did tie a knot in those red/black 26ga wires though... Perhaps i did that as course of habit, and not because i was told so....
am i right in saying those 2 red/black 26ga wires in twoer Y are the ones i connect to FAN 0?
Then i see that PEEK fan is wired to HEAT 1.... What is the peek fan????
Im a bit messed up here.. please assist as best you can...
BTW this is rev 7 heat bed, so the only thing coming from it is the REd/Black 18ga that are already wired to HEAT2BED on the rambo and the 2 white 26ga wires that have a connector on them...
thank you
EDIT: next problem.. SOLVED - just traced back a bit and figured it was not right , so thats fixed.

So i think at the end of the day i have this.
a pair of red/black 26ga wires at the hot end (assuming they go to a fan not yet installed????) and the other end of those are chillin out the end of the Y axis at the bottom.
I have no other pair of red/black 26ga that were aforementioned .
everything else i think i have a spot for...
So the problem i see is the manual is expecting 2 sets of wires (26ga) in the hot end, but i only have one... there should be 2 fans on the hot end setup????
uggghhhh
EDIT - so im trying to fish up another red/black pair... what a pain in the ass... really wondering how this is going to work.. well.. i tried two different towers... cant fish it through...

You have the peek fan that blows air on the hot end, a layer fan for blowing on the part being printed, and the power going to the hot end.
When trying to fish wires, try taking one of the larger wires, solder the other wire to that, feed the large wire through (very easy) then pull the rest of the wires through with the larger wire.

"Peek fan" makes more sense once you know that the middle plastic part of the SeeMeCNC hot end is made of PEEK (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PEEK), an engineering plastic that can withstand higher temperatures than most other plastics.

Page 6:
"Please read this entire guide before you begin assembly of your new Rostock MAX v2! It will
help you avoid any unpleasant surprises....."
You'd already know about what the PEEK fan is, when it gets installed and what it's for.

I was able to do it by "Reading The FINE Manual" - and FOLLOWING it.
There was TIME between placing my order and receiving it, I was able to imagine through most of the build ahead of time.
As I have said in at least one other thread, the quality of the manual was a major factor in my choice to buy THIS kit.
Having read the earlier version of the manual first probably helped me too.
I don't recall where, but I think there are sections in the new one that refer back to the older one - as improvements/changes.

Haha, Gene. Am I the ONLY person who read the ENTIRE manual before I even GOT the printer? It was so pleasant knowing exactly what I was doing and why I was doing it at every step.

Walmart have (had) Elmer's disappearing purple at 25c per stick, perhaps less now that the back to skool shopping binge is over.

I will attest, the manual was VERY VERY good.. there were probably 2 dozen spots that were confusing due to the fact that the versions changed, or parts now look different etc.. Not a huge deal, i got through it without any major issues, except my own ineptness at connectors

but we are up, and about 4 minutes from printing my first item

Yeah, the current manual is a dogs breakfast for sure. The high-speed, iterative process in the 3D printing world is hell on documentation.

I'm working on the 2nd edition right now. It's basically a rewrite from the ground up. All new photos, 98% new text.
I'll post a link later today so you guys can make fun of it.

The last time I looked you had about given up on getting errr, lets say "Self Consistent" settings for MatterSlice
Are there still problems with obtaining good docs from the authors of that ?

It wasn't settings I was having issues with - just the general "not-Repetierness" of the software.

The 2nd Ed. will feature MatterControl exclusively.

I think it would be a net loss if Page 240 eventually evolved to MatterSlice ONLY.

Unfortunately, Tonkabot's Missing Chapter is on the chopping block. I think The Five Stages of Masking Tape makes up for it.

Never tried them, but I would suspect that they would work as well as the Elmer's brand. Certainly a purchase of the smallest pack makes sense until you try them and see if they work as well.
A report back to this forum telling us how good or bad they are would be great also!
