only time I see funky things on the lcd like that, I unplug the cables, the lcd adapter on the rambo, and plug it all back in making sure the cables are seated and lined up right... usually its a pin or wire not making contact.. (do the unplugging/plugging back in with the machine off, then power on to check)

I assume you already tried a power cycle.
Guanu's suggestion is worth a try, but the first two lines are printing properly, so I think the pins that matter to the LCD are connected correctly.
Next thing to try is reinstalling the firmware on the Rambo.
If the symptoms don't change after that, I'd conclude there's a problem with the LCD module itself.

firmware did not fix it. I will bring this one home and put it on my max v2, see if it works there.

Well, it is a bad lcd. My maxv2 one works in the Orion, and the Orion one does the 1/2 screen thing in my max, guess it is time to rma the thing.

Glad you determined the problem. The substitution test is a good one.
