Two different printers, much different results.

So I have had my Rostock N Roll for a few months now and really love it...... for certain things.

However recently ive picked up another printer (because frankly the hassle of making soft filaments work was just silly). So i got a FF creator pro.

Certainly the build volume was one of the reasons I got the rostock, and i love that. the FF volume is much smaller.

So I printed identical large parts on each and here is the pics of the differences... VERY distinct differences.

Just so you are all aware, ive posted a lot of "what are you making" and ive had some VERY good success with the rostock at times.... at times... I just cant seem to get any consistency at all, and thats frustrating.

There are so many variables on the rostock.... perhaps im not up for the challenge? haha

edit : the white you see on the right print of the 2 is because i lightly sanded the corner of this (brim) so it just sanded a bit of the side.

And as everyone on these forums knows, ive been very active and ive been tuning, and tuning and tuning this printer since i got it. I want so badly for this to print in the quality I need. thank you for listening ;)

The one on the left is the FF, and on the right it's the Rostock, right?

If so, it looks like your printer has the Delta Arm Blues. Either something is sanded too much, or not enough.

I gave up on the SeeMe arms as even the 2nd gen still requires some sanding. (Tried both generations.) I went back to using Trick Laser carbon fiber arms, and I don't have that problem anymore. IMO, the Traxxas joints are a better design because there's basically no way to screw up with them. They just work, out of the box.

The second gen requires no sanding.

Thanks for the responses.. I could get with the response that my bed isnt level (which it is now), or any number of other reasons why this looks the way it does... Fact of the matter is its consistent across the entire print. And this is 8 inches long.. The issues are the entire length of the print. I want so badly to have a finely tuned rostock working the way I know it can... I mean the prints some of you guys churn out are amazing.
My Trex skull came out really good too..Its so random :)

so im going to try one more time to print this large print... Im going about 15mm/s on the first layer and its going down pretty well.
Overall print speed of 30-40mm/s should be fine.. its already a 9 hour print. wish me luck...

It was the middle of last year when I got mine, but I remember having to sand some burrs off of them, presumably from where they connected to a sprue or whatever. I was not able to get prints out of them without "delta arm blues" symptoms, even with rubber bands.

honestly, at this point i dont care what i need to do to get good prints out of the rostock... like i said, small prints seem to turn out pretty well. large ones, nightmare.
If i need new arms, ill buy em. if i need new whatever, ill buy it.

i'm upgrading my rostock, I have a set of stock v2 arms and the trick laser carbon fiber arms if you're interested in either.

So yeah, i have the stock arms... you have the laser carbon fiber arms... what are you upgrading to?

so the print last night, besides having tiny gaps in the first layer lines which caused some peeling of the final print, the rest of it looks serviceable... not bad at all.. running another one now...
so we shall see how this one turns out.

I'm moving to a larger delta, the trick laser arms aren't long enough for it.

what do you want for them? what do they normally cost?
And would you please outline what benefit i may see from the upgrade? less shakiness seems like something that would be nice haha

$70 shipped?

http://www.tricklaser.com/Carbon-Fiber- ... M-CFTX.htm

All around better print quality, no sanding required (only a big deal with the v1 arms), super rigid. I never printed with the stock arms so I can't attest to an improvement, but lots of users in the forum have them.

Here's some explanation:

The waves might not be the arms. They could be rounding artifacts on the Arduino's lower res chip.

maybe you should check that parameter at configuration.h of repetier firmware:

/** 1 for more precise delta moves. 0 for faster computation.
Needs a bit more computation time. */
#define EXACT_DELTA_MOVES 1

getting all sorts of compile errors (well 2) when i try to even open configuration.h... whatever... printer in the heap haha.

Did you select the proper board?

yeah i did... 2560... its common, so im not that worried about it... ill figure it out.
in the mean time, so that value isnt in the default configuration.h so what would the default setting be? 1 or 0?
