Initial Function Test Blues

A little help please.
Built my Rostock Max Ver 2 over the last week or so. Fun project and everything was going exactly as indicated in the build manual up to Page 223, Initial Function Tests.
When inputting the M119 code in the G-Code window of Repetier to see if the Stop Limit switches are functioning, I get : x_max:H y_max:H z_max:H instead of "L"'s I cannot change the values by depressing a switch and re-running the M119 code, everything stays static at H H H....
The instructions state that I should check my wiring, which I have done. I believe it is correct. I used the Arduino ver 1.6.1 to compile, am using the Repetier Host V1.0.6
Is there something simple I missed? This seems like it should be one of the easiest pieces to get to work (its a switch!) I have continuity between the connector and the switch until it is closed which breaks the circuit. I attached a couple photos. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
