I am a high school teacher and I had students build the Rostock. It work great for a month and yesterday it looks like the hot end broke in half. I uploaded a picture of it, has this happened to anyone else and if so did you just replace it.

That will happen if you go over 230c with stock hot end.
Pretty likely the thermistor came out and the temperature ran away. ...this can happen pretty easy with the thermistor only held in by gluing it in with RTV.
SeeMe sells replacement parts if you want to try to repair it.
I would just replace the whole thing.

or this

You will also need a groove mount for either of them.

Thanks for the reply, I will look into getting one of the other hot ends. Does anyone know of people in Southern California that will work on these machines

...this is why I specify wrapping it with tape after installing. Helps keep the thermistor in place.

Brian,
I see files for printable groove mounts on the model sharing sites. My gut tells me that a printed groove mount is a temporary solution at best, and a potential disaster at worst. When will TL have groove mounts back in stock?

An ABS groove mount wouldn't be a problem.

printed ABS mount should be OK.
I can have more mounts made up by first of next week.
If you need it quicker and happen to have access to a laser cutter, pm me, I will send you the .dxf of my mount. It is cut from 1/8" hobby plywood, except the top clamp is 1/4" melamine but could also be made from 1 or 2 layers of 1/8" plywood.
