I recently ordered the SeeMeCNC groove mount adapter here:

I cannot for the life of me see how it fits an E3DV6 lite or any V6 for that matter. The top mounting plate does not fit the top of the adapter. What am I doing wrong?

So the hot-end goes through the keyhole and slides to the center, and then the smaller wooden piece clamps on it from above to retain it from sliding.

I understand the concept. Does the top plate just sit completely on top of the hotend? The top plate does not 'fit' anything on the E3DV6. It would just hold it down with pressure. All the other ones I have seen the top piece actually goes around the top of the hotend. Like a nut on a bolt.

I think I am just going to use one I printed now that I found longer mounting bolts. I dont really see how to make the SeeMeCNC one work satisfactorily.

I used the SeeMeCNC one for about 1.5km-worth of filament printing with E3D v6 and volcano hot ends. Yes, the top plate just clamps downward sitting on top of the hot end and holds the hot end in place with pressure.

The SeeMeCNC wooden top plate does tend to bend a bit when tightened, but that's never created looseness or play when printing.

I've also printed basically identical tool holders and other than making the top plate a little thicker and adding reinforcing struts, printed ones work fine too.

I can see an aesthetic dislike of that style of mount, but it definitely works.

OK thats what I wanted to know, thanks. I was just looking at it thinking that cant be right but its the only way it would ever go on there.

I made one similar to the SMCNC one on my laser. Perhaps get a drill and bore out the top plate slightly. I find that one leaves some rotational freedom, so perhaps SMCNC's approach is better. In all honesty, the keyhole does a pretty good job on it's own holding things in place.
