Layer fan shroud ring

Hi,

I have been trying to find a decent fan shroud for my standard effector with E3D hotend. That seems to be pretty difficult, because of the little free space between the bottom of the effector and the object being printed (or bed). I bought my Max V2 second hand, and I got a box with some old prints as an example. In it I found the shroud on the picture below. I can seem to find it on thiniverse or repables. It doesn't fit, because it is too think. But my thought is this:

If we chopped off the fan holder, and changed it into a fitting for an air tube, wouldn't it make sense to have the fan on top of the printer, instead of needing to be dragged around the printsurface while printing? It does a nice spread of the airflow because of the design too. The heighth would need to be minimized to probably max 10mm. The fan would't suck warm air from the heat chamber I am planning to build too ;-)

I am not much of a designer, but would like your opinions about this idea :-)

I built one and works beautifully, but the pump I've used screams like hell... to the point of driving you crazy

Hi Tincho,
That project seems not to have been picked up, it's not available for sale. But it is a really interesting thingy, because it is so much more compact than anything else! How did you build it?
