heaters and extruder not working

Post by house75 »

My rostock max has been working great for years. now my bed and extruder heater are not working along with the extruder stepper. I have checked the fuses, all good, and plugged the extruder stepper into another location, works. any thoughts? The hotend fan works.

Have you checked the 12V with a multimeter and verify that it is close to 12 volts. If not you most likely have a bad power supply.
If the power supply seems to be okay you either have a wire that has become loose or the Rambo card could have become bad.
Check what you can with the power supply and wires and get back to us. Please use the troubleshooting sub-forum.

checked all the 12v pairs coming in from the power supply and they were around 12.3v each, I little loose. tightened all, no luck. noticed no red lights on the board come on when i turn either heater on. A red light does come on when the extruder fan is turned on. doesn't look good. any other ideas? thanks for the help.

If you are positive that all fuses are good, it sounds like a bad card. The manufacturer will repair the board for a nominal charge.

Could be one of the fuses is blown. There are two Littelfuses on the RAMBo, tiny little white ceramic bar-shaped things that fit in sockets. You can pull them with tweezers (they are REALLY tiny!) and check them for conductivity. If blown, you can replace with 5A or 10A. Stock is 5A. I got 10A ones.
