Z direction reversed

Hello All,

I went to print a part after not printing for about 8 days. The hot end came down a 374.00 and tried to print, my last set z height was 378 therefore the hot end was extruding in the air. I attempted to re calibrate z height and this is where I ran into problems. My controls are now reversed on the LCD and in Mattercontrol. Now when my carriage moves down towards the bed it is saying negative instead of positive. So now when I try to home it goes down in small steps instead of up until it hits the end stops. What have I done to cause this and how can I reverse it? This all happened while using the lcd as I rarely print from MC. I had something similar happen about month ago and I'm not sure why it went back to normal.

go back to the manual and follow the instructions for setting your Z zero height. after you set the new z zero run your z back up using the potentiometer, when you get really close to the top use the home tower function on the lcd. after homing check your z height on the lcd. I have found it will screw up the Z height if you home it from your new Z zero so I just run it up manually first.

As you move it down the negative number decreases right? ( negative number decreasing -> the part after the minus sign increasing)

Hi Teoman,
When I go down the negative number goes from 0 to -12345 .
Stonewater. Thanks, I tried your method and it solved my problem, that's strange that it does that when you home from from the bed. I know I'll be using your method from now on. Thanks!

Actually, I spoke too soon, it solved part of my problem. Now no matter what I do, the hotend comes down about 4-5 mm above the bed and tries to print. I have made no changes to eeprom but went into check anyway. It's telling me"oops there is no EEPROM mapping for your printer's firmware". Any ideas there? When I try to set the z height my height is 374.61 and I know it should be around 378 instead.

Ok, now I've fixed it. I had to go into EEPROM settings and change the max Z height. 378 worked. I have no idea why or how it was 374 instead of 378.

Jram, how did you fix the EEPROM mapping error? I've got it happening to me all of a sudden.

The only way to *properly* set the z-height is to do so through the front panel.
