Re: Firmware list
Teacup seems pretty nice. Judging by the code it would certainly crush Marlin and Repetier performance wise, very glad to see they did a way with one of the huge drawbacks of the two already. The code is also much better structured and less hampered by legacy code/compatibility. So yes, certainly th...

Re: Firmware list
At least Repetier and Marlin are a hopeless mess when it comes to code (and yes, I've done custom Repetier software for the ORION for example, so I have worked with it). So just modifying the UI would be mostly putting lipstick on a pig :D. And since coding is my day job, I'd rather not work on clea...

Firmware list
I've been playing with the idea to develop my own firmware for my trusty Orion for a while. I'd like to overcome some of the limitations of the usual firmware and increase the performance and user interface. However, before I embark on this potentially misguided journey, I would like to make sure th...

One more for good measure
Transparent filament. Drilled a hole in the top and put in a 5mm LED.
Really happy with my ORION, has been trouble free essentially all year.
2016 might see a ORION -> Rv2 conversion maybe

To date, probably one of my nicest looking 3D prints ever. This one is super clean! Took almost 10 hours to print. Size of the bottom plate is almost the diameter of the ORION heated bed. Pictures don't do it justice, it's really impressive! Makes me glad I chose SeeMeCNC! [img]http://ironcreek.net/...

Yes it's ABS.
Cheap (not inexpensive ) ABS from Fry's here. Can't wait to get rid of that roll
Print came out nicely though.

I slowed the homing speed way down to make the result more accurate.

Can you post a picture of the same part printed Smoothie vs. Rambo?
Without a direct comparison it is impossible to judge quality.

ABS. I've only ever printed ABS on this machine.Glacian22 wrote:Can I ask what material you were printing with?

Broken glass plate
I've been using Elmers glue exclusively from day 1 with my ORION. It's been working great for many hours and has never given me problems... Well, yesterday it happened - the glas plate broke. After printing a part and letting it cool on the plate, I gently pried the part off (using a plastic scraper...

Re: Why is the Orion using a printable radius of 75?
You are 100% correct. It is physically not possible to print that far out. I have successfully printed right up to the white circle. In fact, at the first pass, the nozzle actually bumped into one of the clips that holds down the glass plate. So yes, it is physically possible. Would I recommend it ...

Re: multiple filaments, multiple extruders, one head???
I actually have parts on order to attempt something like this. I've posted in another thread asking about a purge solution and I'm trying different things right now. Without the purge solution, I'll still try to see what I can come up with and will post a video if I succeed. I think given the size o...

Re: Need ideas for a "priming trash bin"
foshon, it's a nice solution, but I'm trying to come up with something that doesn't majorly interfere with the printing area. Also, I'd like something I could go to in the middle of even a larger print. Having it in the spot you have it would not work in that case. I've played around with a few idea...

I imported your settings - the nozzle diameter is set to 0.40 mm -- Are you using a different nozzle on your Orion printer or does this setting get a printer quality than the standard 0.50mm ??
Yes, I'm using an E3D hotend.
You need to fix this for the stock hotend.

Re: Repetier-Host Goes Closed Source
Just another company who doesn't understand the open source model - too bad. They did a fantastic job elevating the 3D printing workflow. Going "closed source" will however not change anything. First off, someone will fork RepetierHost and a new "defacto standard" fork will emerg...

Has this ever happened to you guys? No. the fan shroud that is attached to the hotend in the center made of ABS started to melt through the hotend right to the tip and drip down to print area. Which hotend? Stock? Which fan shroud? Stock? so my next question is, do i really need that fan installed ...

Re: How to adapt the ATX PSU for Rostock MAX
I modified the existing ATX PSU as you have specified. Opened it up, removed all sorts of wires, cut off all connectors etc. But then I took it a step further and bought a FULLY MODULAR power supply and simply only used the wires I needed.
